Language Style in the Lyrics of the Sunflower Gala Song: A Semantic Study

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the language styles in the lyrics of the song Gala Bunga Matahari by Sal Priyadi, in order to gain a deep understanding of the various types of language styles used in the song lyrics. This research tries to identify the dominant figure of speech and explore the implied meaning conveyed by the songwriter. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data used in this research is a comprehensive analysis of the lyric text and identifying the types of language styles used. The data collection method uses note taking. Testing the validity of the data in this research uses the source triangulation method and data collection method by combining various data from various sources. The results of this research obtained twelve data that included comparative language styles: personification, metaphor, simile. Repetitive language styles: repetition, anaphora. Conflicting language styles: hyperbole, litotes, oxymorons, synecdoche pars pro toto and lexical, grammatical and cultural meanings in the song's lyrics. The implications of this research can be used as teaching material regarding semantics, phonology, morphology subjects.
