Abstract

Linguistic Impoliteness in Comments on @asumsico’s Account on X Application, this study aims to contribute to creating a more positive online environment. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through the observation technique, where the researcher examines and records relevant vocabulary from the comment section. Triangulation is also applied to ensure data accuracy by examining different theories, sources, and methods. Data analysis is conducted using the distributional method, following the steps of data reduction, analysis, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model. The results identify 700 instances of linguistic impoliteness, predominantly characterized by negative impoliteness strategies. Seven contributing factors to impoliteness are identified, including harsh criticism and emotional outbursts. This research is expected to raise awareness of linguistic behavior on social media.
